Pinspiration Day 13 - Katie

Happy Saturday!  I had a full day of laundry, errands, a bunch of stuff to do around the house, a trip to the vet for my pup (she has allergies and is on doggy-Claritin now. If only I were joking) and a few hours of volunteering for a friend's event, 24 Hours of Booty.  I spent the afternoon with Rebecca and her husband, cheering on and refilling platters of granola bars for hungry cyclists while they rode through Sandy Springs, raising money for cancer research.  With all this on my to do list, I knew I needed to be comfortable but wanted to make sure I still looked cute -- you never know who you're going to run into during your day.  (I've done my best to adopt this philosophy after encountering my boss and his family at Target whilst decked out in my finest spandex and ancient GT hoodie after a workout. I still occasionally look like hell in public, but I'm working on it.)

I pinned this look a while ago, but the things that jumped out at me the most were the cuffed jeans, fun shoes and necklace.  Three of my favorite items of clothing!

I made it my own by ditching the collared shirt/sweater combo -- way too hot for an afternoon outside -- and matching my own cuffed skinny jeans (Old Navy) with a white tank under a black long-sleeve crewneck (Target).  The shoes are a pair of my favorites -- green driving mocs (Banana Republic) that I've had for around 7 years.  Scored them on super-clearance on Thanksgiving weekend in Dallas, TX when I was still in college and have taken every chance to wear them since.  If you have a pair of shoes that you really love, make sure you take care of them and get them to a cobbler every now and then for resoling and new inserts -- makes it so they can last forever.  My necklace (JCrew) is also green, but a darker shade with some rhinestones links that added a nice little sparkle.  Rebecca's husband told me that it reminded him of kryptonite, so I'll have to remember that should I ever get in a fight with Superman.

This is definitely an outfit I'd wear again -- I'd even swap the tshirt for a sweater if the weather got a little cooler.
